Yet again my Fairlane has failed me :) Gotta smile about this damn thing as its been screwing with me since day one!

Current details, got up today and wanted to give her a little bit of TLC as planned to drive it to Sydney tomorrow. Did a quick bit of diagnosis this morning as it was sounding like it had a bit of a miss/exhaust leak on the drivers side so I pulled a few leads and they all made a difference so I decided to live with it. Did a run up to the store and grabbed a couple of items, had to crank it a little longer than usual but started and ran fine. Then got home and changed the airfilter and replaced some dodgy vacuum hose and fitted some different springs to the rear(was a little low), started it up to take it to the car wash, cranked a little longer than usual again(seeming hard to start) but then fired up fine. Same again leaving the car wash, then went to get petrol, took a solid 10 seconds of cranking to get it started leaving the place. Then 500 metres from the petrol station it died while coasting.

Currently cranks solidly but refuses to start.

More details:
Battery is less than 5 days old, previous one died on Monday
Fuel pump less than 18 months old
Coil less than 12 months old
UPDATE: Car has no spark!

It made a few popping noises before it finally died which sounded like when my fuel pump died last time. Any ideas guys, I will get back to it and check spark and fuel.

when u turn key on you should hear the fuel pump prime up, but fuel pumps can prime up but when driving can be prone to prussure drop in the line, but does soumd like a dud coil, as my ute did the same thing, took longer and longer to start then no spark.

Confirmed dead coil, replaced the MSD one with a old spare OEM one and she fired up. Managed to make it to Sydney too!
