I have just gotten an NB fairlane V8 and am wanting to put a 5spd manual box into it. I would like to know if I am able to use the parts from my old EA I6 manual? If not what parts are different?
thanks |

sorry which one is the nb fairlane? i get confused..
the bellhousing will definately be different, and the flywheel and clutch, you will need pedals for that model aswell as a corresponding clutch cable.. the t5 box is more or less the same, altho an ea one wont have reverse synchro.. (grind on!) you should be able to gather enuf bits n pieces to make it work

Pretty much, i'm thinking about T5 conversion, and was toying with the idea of getting 6 cylinder box, and using my V8 auto's bellhousing and extension housing to turn it into the V8 box - don't know if it will work though.
Otherwise look round for the V8 wreck and grab the manual out of that as a full conversion, probably cost you around $2K for full V8 conversion |

the auto bellhousing wont work because it wont have the provisions for a clutch fork etc. also, the firewall is the same in a LWD and SWB car so u shouldnt have any dramas bolting in the manual pedal box..

no such thing as a NB fairlane , ford did use NB for some of their part numbers on the early cars but they were NC fairlanes , this also caused confusion within the ford dealers a few years back. |

you'll need
manual gearbox bellhousing - i6 one won't work, auto v8 won't work. has to be a v8 manual one clutch - i6 won't work flywheel clutch cable pedal box with a brake and clutch pedal and i suggest having the box reinforced as the clutch pedal is on it's on pivot, seperate to the brake and are prone to bending and snapping off manual ecu or mod the auto one to suit
