Hey everyone,
I was silly enough to buy an FG XR6 N/A and not a turbo model lol. But now, I too want forced induction. FTG Auto Salvage tells me they can order me in a turbo, piping and intercooler from Ford for about $6000. My question is, what modifications am I going to need to have this running. I have a 5spd but I'm not sure whats the difference between the turbo and non turbo models. Will i need an upgraded ECU, cams, do I need extractors, Cold Air induction, gearbox...? As you can see I have no idea lol- HELP |

Hi,
I can tell you that extractors are out of the question, a CAI won't do anyharm, and your ECU should be fine, you'll just need to get it flashed tuned. I beleive the compression on both the NA and turbo models are the same, so thats a plus...

Good as, thanks dude. Will I be able to run the boost as high as the turbo model though. And also am I able to get the CAI before hand or is that something that should wait till the turbo and piping is in there. I got my eyes set on a SS Inductions Growler CAI
Thanks again |

if you are able to, sell your car and buy a turbo. a lot less hastle and everything will be stronger than if you turbo your xr6.
might be a bit hard if youron finance though

i agree trade it in. if you turbo your N/A XR6 won't you have to also get it engineered

Thats IF you don't go down the path of FTG or trade in. You will get RAPED on trade in though.

Quote: I beleive the compression on both the NA and turbo models are the same, so thats a plus... The compression on an N/A is 10.3 and the turbo variant is 8.8, this will limit you to boost and plus the internals are different (i think) so you would not have as much potential for power. And you would need an engineers cert because the brakes need to be changed to match or exceed the performance of the Turbo Brakes, And emissions will be different due the the compression difference, engineers dont like that either. I would do what every one else said and sell it and buy a turbo one, you will have greater potential less stuffing around and better resale value, |
