I have a generic tune in a b series and all is good. The shifts are a little firmer but I would rate tham as moderate and not going to give you a sore neck :lol

No good rubbishing a generic tune, I know many reputable tuners who concede the generic tune is just about as good as a custom tune. You might get 2-3rwkw more with a custom tune but at $600 more??

Generic tunes are good for your everyday mods, bolt on type stuff with standard stall converters, even a buck teeth sabre could tune them, it dont take einstein to tune a B-series I6, those people are perfoming heart surgery in a hospital.

Sure a custom tuner is better but at triple price? I think not. Ive had plenty of custom tunes done on all sorts of cars. What do you think they do? start from scratch? NO...they load their geneic tune and check the AFR, tweak abit and send you on your way. So your paying another $600+ for the last 1-2% benefit.
