Hey guys,
Im thinking of installing a reconditioned el xr6 head into my nl fairlane which is non hybrid which ive read on some forums that it bolts straight on. The head only come with springs, valves, seals, bolts and gaskets but does not have the lifters, rockers ect. Will i need to get xr6 spec rockers, lifters ect or will my standard fairlane head internals go straight in? If i can ill try to get an xr6 computer to go with it if i go ahead with the head swap. Ive also got a wade 1636 cam to go in, bought it before i thought about doing a head swap. Any help appreciated Cheers lowlane98 |

Is you NL fitted with a Hybrid engine or is it pre 98? There are no difference with XR rockers/lifters and GLi, All are the same. Hybrid engines use AU style rockers and cam.

On my rego sticker it says 98, buti went down to ford and gave my head casting number to the spare parts guy and he looked it up on his computer, and he came back saying that's its an ef head part number and Said it was built in December 97, so its a non hybrid engine
Sweet as thanks for your help. Cheers lowlane98 |

The head will go on without issue. The only difference between EL hybrid and standard was the camshaft and rocker assembly. So if you run an AU camshaft, you have to run AU rocker assembly, like wise with E-series parts.
The 1636 camshaft works with E-series rocker assembly, seeing as you have a non-hybrid head, I would believe the rocker assembly is fine for the cam. Regarding ECU, not 100% sure on this, but you're better off running the Fairmont Ghia ECU since it has similar, if not the same, fuel mapping as the XR6...not sure if it will make a difference though. To make the most of a Tickford head, best to get the XR spec fuel regulator and while you're at it, AU injectors which have a better spray pattern. Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks for all your help guys, i will look into getting the x6 furl regulater and better injecters if I go ahead with the xr6 head.
As for the head number its a 95 da-6090-aa which ford said was an ef part number. Cheers lowlane98 |
