Hi all,
I have an odd problem, the little breather on the side of my ISC is sucking air like crazy. So much that when you pull the black plastic cap off it and cover it with your finger, the idle speed drops about 100 rpm. I tried to look inside one of my old ISCs but could not see what opened and closed that breather. It can't be normal behaviour or ford would have piped it to the intake for filtered air so there must be something wrong. Unplugging the ISC made no difference to the breather. It still sucked. Do in need a new ISC? Cheers Frank |

there is supposed to be a little air being sucked into that, its a minor air bypass..but that cap is not ment to come off or be taken off, if the cap is loose enough to be pulled off it will suck more air than its designed to, i believe there should also be a small filter type material in that cap or tube aswell...

Good to know thanks.
It was hard to pull off so it isn't loose. However it must have a fault because it wasn't sucking like that before. Its sucking just like if you pull a hose off the vacuum tree and you can hear it whistle from inside the car when it is cold and the isc is open. I might swap it out and see how I go. Thanks for the tip Troyman. |

I know why it was sucking extra air now.
I had blocked off the ICS with a hand made gasket in which I'd not cut the two center holes out. The gasket blew out on one of the holes so it was trying to get all the air though that little filter hole. I've replaced the gasket with one made from galvanised Tin and put a 1/8th hole on both sides. Seems pretty good now. |
