Wally, that Duraspark II looks exactly like what I am after. TFI is the key.

How much would you like for it.

PM me with an offer and I'll consider it.

Now you understand it has a partially broken tooth on the pinion gear and the oil pump drive shaft is the smaller one?

I can only assume it works, but it is going to need a good cleanup inside and out (I suspect it the shaft is a bit gummed).

Partially broken tooth is no problem, I'll get a new gear or use the one I have on my mallory dizzy.

I need the smaller oil pump drive for the black cleveland (ZJ fairlane motor) so all is good. Gummed up is servicable. I'll PM in the next few days after I find the going price for this sort of item.

Adrian,

E5TE-12A332-BA is an '85 5.0L TFI-IV distributor. So it won't be of use I'm afraid.

Pete.

Well I'm up for knowing why?

Sorry it didn't work out for you raiki.

I must admit I don't see why the TFI is required for an ECU either? Surely the reluctor type is fine....I know that Motec, Autronic, haltech, etc work ok with them.

Wally, a reluctor would work fine but it means I need two ignition modules. With TFI I need no extra hardware. It's all about keeping it simple but high tech (oxymoron maybe).

In the end I might still grab it off you and just transplant all the electronics into my Mallory unit. I'll see how I go locating another Clevo one first.

Ok the reason is.....
Firstly mechanical;A TFI distributor from '85 can only be from a 5.0L hence it will not fit a 351.
1/4" oilpump drive vs 5/16" and the wrong distributor body size.
Second electrical;
Also if you want to run sequential injection you'll need a signature pip for start of fuel timing something you can't get with variable reluctance(unless you have a missing tooth).

Cheers,
Pete.
