Hello,
Could someone let me know where the Smartshield and ECU is located on an AUII? I've been searching for it in two Ford Workshop manuals and they show nothing about its location, just mostly talk about what it does. Any info as to its location would be appreciated. Thanks |

ECU is located behind the front passenger side kick panel, same as the E series.
BEM is located under the lower instrument panel on the left side of the steering column, same location as the E series. Smartshield is part of the BEM. |

Thanks for that valuable information. On the BEM, is there any way of determining whether it's a smartshield or smartlock? |

best way is the type of key you have?
or if your car is after 6th month 99 it will have smartshield.. |

it will have smartshield, mine is a 8th 99 and it has smartshield..
