Hi all
Tried to install my head unit in my nl fairlane 2day but had no idea what the wires cables were.  Could someone please tell me what the ground cable colour is???? The battery and accessories cable colours are????. And the speakers left to right???? Any help would be greatly appreciated  Thanks lowlane98

Thanks for that mate
 that should help me out a great deal, the only problem is i don't have a green/yellow cable I have all the other ones there that you mentioned.Would a cd stacker make any difference to wire colour or arrangement?? |

check again i think you will or it may be black/pink
either way you need to find a wire with 12v positive always - that is a wire with 12v +ve with ignition off get a test lamp or meter and probe around cd stacker should make no difference if you are using ford units but aftermarket may but usually thay come with wiring instructions or have a legend stuck on the unit itself easiest way most times is to get an premade AERPRO wiring adaptor to match and just plug it in - there cheap and easy look on ebay or most auto parts stores will have |

Tiny56, just wondering how could i tell which wiring harness would match, or would any do? I'm new to wiring so i don't really know how the harness' work.. Sorry about the bump by the way.

Hi,
If you are changing the stereo, you can buy an adapter from SuperCheap. ( it is specific to you car model loom ) This means you don't cut the plug off in your car. The one you buy plugs in and you solder the wires to the plug that come with the new stereo. No hacked up looms in the car, and you can also double check for mistakes before you test the unit. I would also suggest using heatshrink as insulation over the joints. This is tubing you buy from somewhere like Jaycar. You put it as a sleeve over the cable, once you have soldered the wires together, slide it over and heat with a match. The tubing will shrink to about 1/3 the diameter, it is tough flexible and wont unwrap like tape. Test some before you start. Regards 96ELGli

Hi,
It also means you can easily put the old one back in when you sell it. The car is then all original with no damaged wiring. As you can match the adapter to the new stereo harness, there wont be a rush to fit it, where mistakes can happen. If you keep the car a long time, you can also cut the adapter off and match it to a new stereo. Regards 96ELGli
