today i was offered some rear mufflers apparently from an fg gt. all good, as i have a gt rear bar and like the rear of the stock fg gt. however when i went to look at them, the mufflers in question seem like they are off something else. instead of the usual large ford tips, they both have twin angle cut tips. did any fpv's come out with quad exhaust? the mufflers themselves have stickers with ford part numbers. the oddest part though is both mufflers have an extra part on them. its after the muffler just before the tip, and is on only one outlet pipe each side, not both. looks like there should be a hose connected to it, and theres a rod coming out of it with an adjustable nut on it, which is connected to the pipe. to me it looks like its for some sort of pressure release, almost as though once it builds up the rod moves and opens or closes something in the pipe? tried looking for something similar and this is the closest thing i found. it looks original factory like the second picture, the part added to the turbo. are they blow off valves? never worked on a turbo car so i have no idea. if i put these mufflers on a N/A car, should they be removed or just leave them unused or what?

There are a variable noise muffler.
The controls are to keep it quiet to pass ADR's but they open up when your into it.
There is some mod you can do to them but Im not sure what it is.

i might also ring ford with the numbers on the parts stickers to see what comes up in their system. i can understand they may be a variable muffler, i just cant see ford putting them out from the factory

ok well after more research ive found out what the go is. the mufflers are from the rear of a coyote 335kw gt. the exhaust on that car is bi modal. what that means is that in the lower rev ranges the extra bit opens or closes something in the exhaust to make it quieter. if you give the power pedal some heavy right foot action, it does the opposite and lets the sporty note happen. how this is connected and controlled i dont know, and if its mechanical via vacuum pressure can it be hooked up to a lower spec car....
will ring ford tommorow to make enquiries...
