Just wondering about the tailshafts in wagons, are all LWB's the same? i.e. fairlane or ute ones'll fit?
Reason is I wnat to get an XR spec one, the alloy or what ever they are in there. And I know that finding a wrecked EF/ED XR6 wagon will be hard, but if Tickford Fairlanes and XR utes are will also fit then I'll have more chance finding one! |

The fairlane by tickford has an alloy tailshaft, and I am assuming that the XR utes would have also. I think that it shouldn't be too hard to find an XR ute that has been wrecked - definately alot easier than finding a wrecked FBT anyway.

As far as I know the wagon, ute, and fairlane share the tailshaft - they all share the same wheelbase. But someone else may be able to give a definate answer. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

My understanding as well is that all LWB vehicles, including utes, had an alloy tailshaft.
All wagons are supposed to have an alloy tailshaft wtih a large steel dampner weight on the output shaft of tailshaft. But either way, I have a LWB alloy tailshaft at home if anyone is interested. |

I have a Fairlane by Tickford, and an XR8 XH ute, and both have an alloy shaft, and are no different to any other Fairlane or ute, and both are the same.

ARM79 is spot on my AUII wagon has the same alloy tailshaft.
It won'y help me if I want to go over 180k as its too long and will whip itself to death. even TL50's had speed limiters as far as i know. |

give me the part number that should be on the shaft, ill tell u all and what other shafts are the same lengths alloy or steel. the shaft was made where i work.
the numbers on the the bottom mean the date it was made. example 010105 B12345 means 1st jan 2005 balancer1 and serial number. the numbers and letters above is what i need. |

with that part number ill be able to tell u the length, diameter, if it has an ITD (internal tuned damper), SYD (slip yoke damper), what type of slip flange and ear flange. may help if u have to have one custom made.
