I just did new bearings in my car, and noticed my tub of penrite htwb grease seemed "gritty", and was wandering if it goes "bad/off"? The tubs been in the garage for bout 3 years, since I last did bearings.... ?
Sorry if this is a dumb question.

might be a stupid question, but was the tub open or sealed? because ive had opened but resealed tubs sit in the shed for years and never felt gritty. if it was opened it would have been collecting dust.

i personally wouldn't have used it if it felt gritty. id keep an eye on your bearings and keep an ear on them for any groaning.

Grease will happily last 20+ years if it's stored in the right conditions.

Its just been in garage, in a tub, but its odd its gone gritty, and the castrol hasnt... Maybe penrites not as good as I thought?
I wasnt going to use it, but im redoing bearings soon, so figured doesnt matter... Only repco brand garbage for a rwc anyway...

And it doesnt just feel gritty, its visibly gritty... Crystalised, sepperated, thickened....? Id take a photo just so you can see it yourself.
