thanks everyone-head change went fine -with new bolts lol. Only thing is that it has a miss down low which goes away after you get into the revs a bit. I have read that buggered head gaskets can poison the O2 sensor from coolant getting into the exhaust. Does this sound like the fault, and if so can anyone recommend where I can get one from other than evilbay-I cant seem to get one under 90 bucks-am I getting ripped off or is that market value?-I'm in the newcastle area.

Even a slight intake manifold leak can cause that miss business - and I had a very noticeble idle miss + off idle stumble appear after doing my head (ran sweet before tho) which turned out to be injectors - ie. turned out the inside of my fuel rail was full of rust scale and disturbing it all had predictable results.

Fair call but had the miss before I removed the head. I still think it may be injectors but it seems to go alright once you are up in the revs. I just read an article in street machine saying that if it does that it probably isn't injectors. Don't want to go down the line of fixing 5 things by replacement at 100 bucks each. That would s**t me

What did you have to do to fix the rusty rails and injectors

I replaced the injectors and fitted a new fuel rail (not cheap).
As far as idle miss and off idle stumble but ok above that not being injectors - I had the same runaround - for weeks I ruled out injectors because of that and chased ignition - spent $$$ on coil and leads etc. - but in my case it did indeed end up being the injectors. That's the problem tho - mine was injectors but there's no guarantee it's your problem too - just be aware it might be. As I type it comes to mind tho that a very specific thing about mine was that the idle miss would only appear once it was warmed up - ie. initially after first startup it was smooth and even, but warmed up the miss was very obvious. I think the ECU "choke" function was offsetting the injector problem (one of them partially clogged I guess) during warmup.

I've heard of emulators to mask O2 sensors. So what shoud I expect to happen if I unplug the sensor
