Hey folks,

Looking for a bit of advice on an ABS problem on an EL wagon.

From what I understand from the technical doc, my problem code is 42 which indicates that the problem is with the rear right wheel.

The suggested test:
1) Is the Wheel speed sensor securely attached. If not, then secure and re-test - This is fine
2) Is the correct tone wheel in place. If not, fit correct tone wheel, and re-test - Going to check this tomorrow
3) Inspect tone wheel, and run out. If tone wheel faulty, replace, and re-test - how do I do this
4) Is sensor connected. If not, re-connect sensor, and re-test - I pulled up the rear seat and it is connected. Going to check resistance tomorrow, but if it's outside of 2.2KOhm +- 0.4KOhm range, is that a chance that it's the problem?
5) Is sensor shorted to ground, or another sensor. If so, replace wiring loom, and re-test. Can anyone clarify this
6) If problem still exists, replace wiring loom. and re-test. How does this differ to step 5?

It looks like the caliper has been binding as the rear pads are nearly completely shot, whereas the other side are fine so I'm also wondering if it's just clogged with dust?

Any tips etc much appreciated!

Mark

Hi,

Clean all the " dust " from the sensor. It will have a whole lot of crap on it and so not give the right pulse to the ABS unit.

Thought I'd update this - the metal sender at the end of the ABS sensor had fallen off. I cleaned it up, popped it on and it's perfect.
