Hi All
I am in the process of stripping my dead EBII Fairmont goodies and installing them in my new EB GL. So far I have moved the Instrument Cluster, Trip Computer, Front and Rear Seats, Centre Console (found blanking plate for Power Window swithes at wreckers) and am next going to install the Power Windows. What I found when changing the Centre Console over was that the Power Window loom was already in place under the carpet. It runs to each pillar and finishes with a plug inside the frame. All I have to do is remove the door loom and regulator from each door and plug it in. It just couldn't be any easier. Will let you know how I go. In addition I have been investigating how to install the BEM into the GL. I think it is possible with some custom wiring. I will also be moving the climate control, but will leave this for a later date. I am surprised how much of the loom is already in place. The remote fuel flap release just plugged and played. Regards BenJ

No the trip computer required running wires to quite a few areas. I just followed the doco on here about it. I also have a Gregory's manual which is very handy.
The GL already had Cruise control from factory. It seems the RTA was the first owner out at Parkes, NSW. Regards BenJ

Just how much of the Fairmont interior, wiring etc is salvagable? I would imagine it would be much easier to simply transfer everything holus-bolus from the Fairmont to the GL instead of messing around doing it one piece at a time, especially if you intend to transplant the climate control as well.

I considered that, but this car is our family daily driver, and I can't have it off the road for more than 8hrs.
Also the GL is a non smartlock car and the Fairmont has smartlock, not working at the moment. I have an alarm system to go in to allow for immoboliser and remote access functions. It is interesting to find that quite a lot of the harness for the higher spec features are in place in the GL. For instance the plug for the Climate Control Ambient Air Temp Sensor is in place in the Engine Bay loom. Also the plug for the Overflow low water level sensor is there. I will just do these one thing at a time. Keeps me occupied at the very least, and my son and I get to work it out together. Regards BenJ

I have had 2 power windows fail on me, both at 300 a pop, if i was keeping it, i would be putting manual winders back in, expensive business power ones.

I have checked the existing harness in the GL and it terminates in a plug in the bottom of the B pillar. Comparing it to the Fairmont the plugs are identical, so fingers crossed, all will be well.
