Hi all my brother has a ba xr6 sedan and just brought an xr6t complete motor for it and wants to know how hard it is to change, if you need to change the loom or just the ecu and or anything else.
Thanks

perhaps that's the kind of research that should be done before purchase...

for a quick answer: from what I've read BA is a great deal of work, BF can be plug and played. Both are not easily interchangeable either.

What gearbox was in the donor and what's in your brothers?

I'm not sure what box it had on it but my brothers box is a t5z one of the turbos.

well that's a start. Though I'm pretty sure the donor should be a T5z also. going turbo means changing the pcm, pcm means upsetting the bcm and so on and so on.

well your not dealing with an e series here, there's more to it than an ecu, a harness and a motor. The be series take an integrated approach to the management system with at least 2 different computers. The PCM is the powertrain control module which has to be linked with everything else which is BCM (body control module), SRS sytem etc.

The other option could be to have it flash tuned but in nowra to be quite honest I think your up schitt creek with that one.

Would it help if he had a typhoon computer? Because he can get one.
And he wouldn't mind getting it tuned anyway.

I believe the most important part is it's from the same model, all ba. But I'm still fairly uncertain of interchangeability.

I think it would be better to find someone to flash it first to see if it can be done. Of course it will all fit, weather it works relies on the tuner, because it isn't plug and play.

unsure, they still have to communicate with other systems to like the SRS and ICC. best to speak with the person doing the work if your not going to yourself. The more gear you have would obviously be better but best to find out before you roll out cash.

Your on the wrong forum for a quick answer. Make a profile on the xr6turbo forum and they will help alot. Aparently bf xr6s have the turbo wiring loom already. Ba im unsure.
