how much would balancing to bottom end be really? I ask because the i6's are not big on revs anyway.. so what is the benefit in balancing it? Also, what do you mean by "AU mains brace"? I'm assuming you mean the main bearing? 151.3rwkw is awesome.. I'd be damn happy with that in a naturally aspirated car.. how lumpy is the wade 1673 cam? sorry for picking your brain... wife takes all my money so have to work smart not hard... rgds Frank The balance was fairly reasonable price ($400 i think) and helps the rev ability heaps. The wade is an awesome cam, (for my purposes) daily driven, sits in peak traffic not all that lumpy and pulls all the way from idle to rev limiter at around 5750 rpm and still pulling hard. The mains brace could also be called a stud girdle, or main bearing brace. It's a one piece bracket that bolts down on the mains caps to help stiffen the bottom end, I had to use 13 AU mains bolts and one of the ef bolts, also had to "relieve" the sump around the two rear bolts, as they hit otherwise easy mod and well worth the money imo. Good luck with it, hope i've helped P.S. I know what you mean about the wife,

hmmm, 400 bucks is achievable, but my EL mother is totally flawless.. I didn't want to pull the big end down yet.. was thinking of doing the head.. (au gasket and bolts and maybe shave a bit off.. try to port match it to the intake/exhaust, stuff like that)
Still, when the time does come, I will definitely do that. I've never seen a ford i6 botom end let go.. I've seen lots of holden 186/202's do it.. but never a ford.. |

Its funny to read back over these old threads. There are NA6's in the 12's now and will be even quicker this year. R&D is all that it is. We may even see the Falcon NA6 in the 11's.

It's really good to see that even 20 odd years since the E series was launched they can still hold there own, and that people are still pushing to see what they can get out of them. I think ( probably cop some s**t from this ) that those people who still own and are spending the big $ on their E series to push the barriers with them should be commended, it's good to see such true enthusiasts!
