Ok guys so im brand new to ford mods and having a bit of difficulty finding anything that directly answers some of my questions so sorry if there is existing threads etc.

my first question is that im running ss growler cold air intake on my BF fairmont ghia with pacemaker tri y extractors and a 2.5 inch redback cat back. the cat back was fitted over a month ago and i drive it very regularly and it is quiet as anything unless you are really giving it to it in which case the growler is still much louder than the exhaust note itself. is it possible the exaust is faulty, am i being impatient? or is this what it is?

question 2 is what other mods do people suggest i do next? looking to gain a bit more low to mid range torque. (im a p-plater). general consensus looks as though i shouldnt bother with messing around with cams and injectors? im looking at getting a tune with powerup performance in morrabin if anyone has any feedback on them in particular or suggestions of somewhere better? and have been considering porting the heads?

Has it carboned up yet?
Generally redbacks tend to be a little more throaty. Could just need to give it time to settle in.

Injectors won't need to be done. Now cams on the other hand

Who were you looking at getting them through? Obviously you need two power sticks, an exhaust cam and an inlet cam. Generally just for the power sticks you will be looking +800$, plus needing fitting on top and a very good tune to get the car running. Look in the vicinity of about 2000$ to get them in and running. While you are changing the cams, you might as well change the valve springs, which is I think about another 300$ on top.
I would suggest talking to Blue Power, as they know their Fords like the back of their hands. Not to sure how far from you, but worth the call and/or trip.

thanks for the reply mate. is there a way of telling if it has carboned up yet or not? i just assumed that after this much time it would atleast have some balls about it especially considering its extracted which i know does not really affect loudness but the note isnt great either.

i was looking at getting the work done through powerup performance in moorabin victoria. im not sure how much cam work they do but they also specialise in na ford 6's. would i be better off camming it or porting and polishing? money to power gains wise? the tune is an obvious one that i will get done. and finally will a high flow cat converter help me with loudness at all or will it simply give it a sportier tone?

I'd be talking to Paul from CVE Performance, he is the only person I would trust to modify my XR. He has build some of the best I6's out there, including the fastest! Just a thought mate.
