Hey All,
I'm getting my engine built by CVE at the moment with all the usual stuff Head work, Custom Cam, Springs locks retainers, Verneir Gear, J3 etc etc. Im hoping for around the 180RWKW mark, however I'm thinking for the next step of the build apart from custom 3" exhaust, getting the inlet manifold ported. Just curious what gains people have found by getting it done? I know JMM reckon its taken a considerable amount of time off their 1/4 but I don't trust em as far as I can throw them. Just curious on first hand experience and some opinions from mechanics who have played with this mod?

what has CVE said about it?
ive always been told the old school way that air flows over air faster than metal that's why they leave it cast.

When I asked Paul about it he said that it really depends how the head flows, however he also said that If I want to aim for high Power that we want to do as much as we can.
I didnt get it done with the head work just because I'm not sure that it would benefit a whole lot

the question is do you want to know that you have done everything and what it dose is max or hope what you have done is enough.

I'll defiantly be getting it done as its not very expensive, I'm more interested in what kind of gains it will provide. Will it just improve throttle response with a small power improvement or provide a larger power improvement. But in answer to your question I'm going to go to town on this engine!

Sure are! Do you have any more plans for the wagon?

are you talking about getting it extrusion honed (abrasive flow engineering) or just a hand port? because you can't down far enough by hand, can get most of the way with a flexible hone but not all.
and last time I checked it was quite expensive. Mind you it was a few years back I got it quoted. I think it was around $2000 to get the head and manifold done.

I guess it wouldn't be by hand then. My head was that price alone. The price isn't bad coz CVE does top quality work, so I don't mind paying for it.

I'm not saying they don't, I've only heard good things about CVE. I was just curious as to how it was getting done? I only say you can't get all the way down by hand because I'm un-aware of anyone who has, doesn't mean someone hasn't.
Extrusion honing is pretty awesome though. You can vary the surface finish with the media so get the inlets roughed and the exhausts mirrored. It's usually a race team thing though because of the cost, though it may have become more affordable over the years.

Nah it's cool I'm just saying I doubt CVE would do it as it seems like a waste of time doing it by hand if the whole lot can't be done?
