gday all last week 4th gear reving up to go to 5th engine slowly died could smell lpg and yeah she died in the a***, tryed to start it for 2 or 3 mins she half fired for a second and would only turn over after that, key off for 5 mins tryed again it half fired and then nothing still turned over but no go

go it home no spark at the leads tested the coil- no spark put new bosh coil on still no spark at all out of the coil

all fuses in the cab are fine, the engine is a ef xr6 converted to dizzy runnning el xr6 ecu, lpg car is manual did 15000 km since conversion,

the supressor seems to be just hanging on at the round end but still connected and when the door is open the interior light is working fine so the crt fuse is defently not to blame

any help will be fantastic i am stumped as to what the problem is

+1. I've replaced two on my XH.

At least you can get to it with a BBM conversion.

also check the centre post on the inside of the dizzy cap, these usually wear out causing a spark gap between the cap and rotor, which also can result in a fried tfi module

The TFI sort of slides up in to place and attaches to the side of the distributor with two screws.

On the other side of the distributor is a small triangular plate with a bolt that holds the distributor in place. Loosen the bolt so you can rotate the distributor and it will be much easier to get to the TFI.

Mark where the distributor was first though because rotating the distributor will change the base timing. If you can borrow or you have a timing gun it's probably worth setting the timing properly anyway. It doesn't take very long.

To xhute92,
we have an EB2 with that TFI module, which was mounted on the side of the dizzy, I went thru about 3 or 4 before I did some research and decided to remove it and mount it on a good heat sink in front of the radiator, and have never blown one since, apparently they overheat. Also the EB has gone thru the same amount with the standard coils as well, until I started using the old "round can" type (which is mounted next to the TFI on it's own). DO NOT USE GENERIC DISTRIBUTORS OR TFI's, use only Motorcraft dizzies & TFI's. (reply to this if you want to know finer details).
