Hey guys
I've got a 2006 BF Futura with Traction Control fitted. It's a dual-fuel ex-taxi and this may have something to do with it, it may not. Anyway, the traction control button seems to do nothing. When I press it, nothing happens, it gives no indication of anything happening and traction control is still on. I know that traction control is fitted and working because I have tried to get the wheels spinning on the empty paddock we use for fun (I live on a farm). When I pulled out the button holder for traction control button there are four wires going into the button, 2 of these seem to be for the L.E.D in the switch (which also doesn't work) because they get 12v across them. The other 2 I'm guessing are what the switch would normally connect (it looks like a momentary switch if that helps). If anyone had any ideas of what would help, please let me know. |

I know with my FG (and other cars I've driven with TC) you have to hold down the button for a few seconds to turn it off. Then a light/warning message/something should pop up in the cluster. I assume they do this to prevent people accidentally switching it off by bumping the button or something.
Hope this helps |

LPG falcons are setup to have TC disabled when on gas.
You seem to have the opposite problem. Is TC on even when running on petrol? |

Just to clear something up. when TC is on no lights are shown on the cluster.
When its Off the cluster lights the orange symbol..

Thank you for your reply wolfiekun, I tried holding it down for a few seconds but no such luck, either with the Traction Control light lighting up (as it should when turned off) or with traction control turning off (Wheels spin a little bit then the light starts flashing and power to the wheels is cut/reduced).
Yes, I have heard that on LPG the traction control should be off, but it remains on when using both fuels. And yes, the light is off except when first starting the car (when all lights show for a few seconds) and whenever the traction control kicks in (it flashes) |

Maybe the TC button is dodgy.

Also the light will flash when TC is active in a slip situation to warn you to back off.

Aha. In that case I'd imagine the button is faulty, if the TC system itself does work then presumably the button/wiring to the button is to blame. That whole area is a little beyond my knowledge but I'm sure there will be someone who knows a bit more about it!
Also I know that most LPG Falcons (until FG Mk II I think?) didn't have TC but if yours is a non-factory dual fuel setup (given that the factory LPG option was dedicated LPG only) perhaps the installer/manufacturer of the system worked around that and allowed the TC to be used on both fuels? A little off topic, sorry.. I realise that doesn't really help solve your problem lol. |

Yes, the light does flash in a slip situation, both when slipping sideways and under heavy acceleration with no grip
Here's a picture of the where the wires go in the switch loom if it helps. Sorry I can't get an actual pic up, my phone won't connect to my PC (due for an upgrade a few years ago I think). The black is where the wires are, the white boxes have no wires going to them.
