Update:
Got the car back today. Yay!!!!!
She is running beautifully.

It turns out that during all this the mechanic I was originally dealing with got sacked (No Surprise) and the owner of the shop finished the job.
Even though it cost me a bit more then I was expecting they were still the cheapest.

In the end they went with the composite gasket. VRS Gasket Set Mono-Torque Premium

Hopefully, with good maintenance and servicing this is the last time this happens.

Cheers

that's the same set my mechanic used, with the head and trans service it cost me $792, i am very wary of using something that was designed for another car on my car, so far she is running fantastic and the idle has improved 100%, you'll find a lot of mechanics won't use mls gaskets on cars that weren't designed to use them.
