Seen a GE6 turbo smoked out a Holden R8 no worries last Wed, lots of torque - I'm hoping the tranny stands the all that torque on low revs for its lifetime...

A VF Turbo V6 is not going to happen.... The main reason why there are not going to be any power increases for the Australian VFs is because Holden is concentrating heavily on fuel economy. Also a Turbo V6 would cannibalise sales of its V8 models, and bring further model complexity to the Commodore range. (Holden has already said that there are too many variants of the Commodore, and it will be dropping 2 models in the VF range). Historically Holden will not fit a new engine or drive train to a fresh new model (I.E. major sheet metal or interior changes). The tend to do it to existing models, to freshen them up in the market place, whilst also testing the drive train out for the next future models... Some examples.... VR->VS with the Ecotec engine VT->VTII with the GEN III V8 VY->VZ with the GEN IV. VE Facelift with the SIDI and AFM motors. There are already going to be some major changes in terms of features, interior trim and finish, and exterior weight savings, so Holden will be holding out on any major engine or drive train changes for the VF in the Australian market. The US market is going to get the latest Gen V V8s, as they are essentially trying to push the VF as a 4 door Camaro for families. Whether this makes it to Australia as a VF Series II Update

It is a space saving measure to fit the engines into smaller spaces. Have to seen under the bonnet of a Packard straight eight? Not a lot of room at all hence they went with a vee design. I6 will always poop on the v6 and the crappy sound a crumble door makes when you flatten the foot...almost sounds like a wheeze! Hooroo |
