Hi everybody,
This may be a staight forward answer but I just want to check. When my wifes driving her 2004 focus 1.8l, (not her driving I tried too), it sometimes looses power when trying to accelerate. I think it may be a air intake sensor, any other suggestions before I get a new one. Cheers Stewart Mac

How long since you changed the fuel filter? Same thing happened to my Nanna's old EL and was blocked fuel filter

Pretty sure its not the fuel filter as she has been runniong 98 in it.
Only starts to loose power and gasp once your foot half way down. Have just given the old sensor a clean with MAFS cleaner hopefully won't have to buy a new one.

However losing power could also mean blocked catalytic converter which is common on the sixes. Not sure on the 4s, but I would imagine it would have the same effect if it were blocked. Also check your air filter element isn't badly blocked...hopefully you don't have a dead bird or a bunch of mice in there.

I have tried cleaning the MAFS and changing the fuel filter, but no success.
When you push the accelerator half way in it is fine, but when you push it all the way to the floor the car stutters and chugs (not a very good descriptive word). Anyone got any ideas?

As phongus said, could be blocked catalytic converter, might want to check your fuel pressure as well, its just a process of elimination haha.

After changing the filters i would be checking the cam and crank angle sensors this can have the same effect, go to your local mechanic and get them to plug in the computer and check for error codes.

After checking the fuel pressure I eventually checked the cat and what do you know it was stuffed.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Just keep replacing random parts until it's fixed.
