This is not for my Ef but for my Mq Patrol.
The patrol is lifted on 31" tyres and it has a towbar incorporated into the HD rear bumper. The style has the old tongue bolted to it, but seeing its lifted I dont know if most trailers will hook up to it due to the height. I would like to get one of those tongues that slide into a sleeve so I can add an adjustable height tongue.
Can you buy the sleeve and weld it on or do you have to replace the whole towbar assembly?
Heres an example of the style of tongue I have and one of the tongue I want
This is off an Xg I had but similar to what I have

I have turned the one I have around but its still too high.
This is the kind I want to fit

Nobody would sell just an insert to be welded in.

To be legal, a towbar must be weight rated. Most will have the maximum towing and ball weights stamped directly on the towbar. My pajero has the low spec hayman reese on it (bolt-on tongue as opposed to the 50mm receiver type). The towing weight (1200kg) and the tow ball maximum load (80kg) are on a sticker that the previous owner placed in the door jamb.

Ok thanks. Ill have to see if someone can either make me a new tongue or bend this one down a bit as I really dont want to replace the whole rear bumper as it has a spare holder on it and the bar is hd.
Thanks for the input. Im new to lifted vehicles, normally trying to go lower rather than higher lol
