Hi guys, I had a look through old posts and couldn't find anything in regards to the following:
Does a ef-el manual conversion kit (gearbox, computer, clutch pedals) that has come out of a v6. Would it fit in to a ef-el fairmont v8 or do I need to find a v8 manual box? And what would be a rough price for labour that a mechanic would charge for the comversion. Any help guys it would be much . Thanks. |

First of all a falcon six is a straight six not a v6. You will need V8 gearbox pedal box ecu loom etc. As far as cost getting a mechanic to do it you would be better off just buying a v8 ef or el.

Hey salvatorey
I was looking at this the other day. The V8 will drop in just need things likee ecu and ect. The 6 cylinder t5 dont fit unless you do a bit of work to them. Theres someone selling a el v8 fairmont ghia and also a v8 t5 on here at the moment. Might be worth looking at the if your that keen |

Thanks for the info mate.
The thing is i am about to buy a EF Fairmont (5ltr) for $500, the car runs well apart from the auto gearbox which misses second. So i thought instead of buying a new auto gearbox i might shop around and see if i can find a manual box and kit and have that fitted instead. I have been advised by a couple of people that a T5 from Ea-El 6 Cylinder will fit but the rear bel housing needs to be changed but i am also being told that it is not possible and i need to actually find a EA-EL V8 Manual box and kit. So im in a bit of a pickle and not sure if its even worth it. |

You need a V8 specific box as the input shaft is a different length. The V8 one is approx. 60mm longer.
I believe CRS does a bellhousing which is shorter which allows you to use a 6 cyl box behind the 5.0 but then the tailshaft needs to be lengthened to make up the gap.
