Hi guys ive got powersteering fluid leaking from the switch big time and was wondering how hard they are to change.ive heard you need to cut up a spanner to make it shorter and easier to get at. What size spanner? It emptys the pump 2-3times a week and also on a cold morning when i start the car the steering is locked up and wont let go until i rev it a bit, does anyone know whats up with that. Thanks

You can get a 14mm open ender and grind the jaws thin enough to get access.
You don't need to go down to 3mm.

If I could make a suggestion , when you replace it bite the bullet and pay the $75.00 for a genuine Ford one . All I hear about the cheap ones on ebay is they are lucky to last 12 months . I replaced the one in my EF for the first time last year after 16 years and 340,000 kilometres .

I got a cheap supercheap auto 9/16" a/f spanner and cut it in half to make it shorter, did the job fine, the aftermarket ones seem to last alright in my experience, never had a problem with them. I p****d off the power steering pressure switch in my 5 litre EF too and I never had a problem.

5 Litres don't have a pressure switch. Unless someone fitted a 6cyl rack.

I kept my 6cyl rack when I fitted the 5 litre.
