hey how r u all? Look ive done my diff in my kf laser again. If you don't know, my KF laser 1.8 now has a tx3 turbo motor in it and i was wondering if there was such thing as a semi-locker diff for Front Wheel Drive cars. Cause what i keep doing is strpping my gears, this is the third time.

It think KASS do a torsen center for the laser, or mabey look at mazda gears, as they are a 323 under the ford body. Try a good diff joint, i dont know any off hand in SA sorry

Our Festiva has been going strong on the stock diff no problem ( Maybe it's just a Laser thing? ) You might have luck with a diff from the gt25mr box (from the capri XR2). I have the details of a shop in Penrith who deal with B series FWD parts. Sportsclassics i think? All the big hp guys in festivas in U.S are using them. Michael |

yeah i don't know why it keeps stripping gears. i have a button clutch in it, what i want to do is either find a lsd or get one made cause i want to eliminate gears all together cause thats the only problem.

Is the clutch needed? I mean no offence, but would a H/D clutch do the job to replace the button item?
They seem pretty harsh on the drive train. I guess the next step is looking at the KAAS items, or even Capri or 323 diffs? |

Kass build 1.5 way mechanical LSD's for front wheel drives but they aint cheap.

That Golf was no slouch. It would stay with a tricked up VN SS manual till about 140kmh, then the VN would get away, slowly.

Limited slip diff for front wheel drive cars! What a great subject.
When I competed in car club events with my 1970 Cooper S there were two LSD options, Salisbury type with plates and clutches. Nice but tended to wander in a straight line and lethal if you tried to correct it. The damn thing would suffer from plough understeer into corners. You had to snap the steering lock on and boot the throttle to stop the understeer. The other option was always known as the "ZF" diff. These were made and are still made by Jack Knight developments in UK. These were a patented ZF design with 7 pawls. They worked like a Detroit locker. Made my old crate into front wheel drive power oversteering rocket. Once you got it sideways it was an absolute ball of fun to drive. Not good for road use. Gary |
