Did you check for correct wheel nuts, and that they were seating correctly, and not bottoming out? Thats my bet simply werent done up well enough...my tyre life aint the best because of how I like to corner hard which forces alot of pressure on the front hub adaptors...mine have been engineering approved and apart from one nincident Ive never had an issue with them. After the first 6 months of owning them I went in to get new tyres....I specifically asked the bloke doing the fitting to unbolt the adaptors and re-tighten them....he said he did however after 5 mins driving home I heard that knocking noise and the front right was loose...I was lucky enough tho to be close to home tho and fix em up...no damage done anywhere but was lucky.... If there fitted correctly and bought from somewhere reputable new (i wouldnt buy second hand just incase) then you shouldnt have a problem with them.

i have hub adaptors on my el they are billet aluminium and were installed by argy tyres,
has passed rego and had cops under bonnet with these on ,cracked an 18x8"rim in half at 70km,and copped the disgusting manner that i drive it in for thousands of kms without fault or problems. shouldnt cost more than 300 too have rims installed including 1"billets and grinding your studs good points 1.they get you cheap rims 2:they make your car track wider depending on rim choice 3:amazing clearance from struts and such 4:they are shiney /bad points 1:you often need or should cut your wheel studs, remembering to factor in nut sizes, and not getting grindin dust on your car 2:price for quality and bodgey ebay shiight floating round 3:tight as insurance companies 4: and the biggest i find is getting a flat tyre if you dont have 5 rims , keep a piece carpet and use your spare (providing its a stockie to stop the disc moving or keep up your nrma membership 5:check your babies every time you check your tyre pressure |

I dont know if any of you have seen "Chop Shop, London Garage" on foxtel, but almost every car they build (or WRECK) they fit wheel spacers to, and i'm not talking 10 or 15mm wide i'm talking 150mm front and 200mm rear, in ally as well. Heres a pic of a Jag XJS they were modding. Check out the hub spacers.

Wheel nuts not done up good enough possibly.
Probably overlooked in the excitement of your new bling. (don't be ashamed I have done it too) Main thing is (like mine did) it would have made a steady knocking noise for a while as they worked loose.

A pathetic back yard chop shop run by a brainless c0ckney wanker and a Bangladeshi guy whos taste is so far up his a*** neither of which has the first clue about engineering and who both have appauling taste . 99.9% of the crap they produce will abysmally fail the first MOT inspection it undergoes after some equally tastless wanker who buys it attempts to reregister it . |

So to simplify this for me...what car in Australia has hub adaptors standard and part of their manufacturing regime? The only two I could find we're the Mini Cooper s and the leyland mini s, ford falcon XD ute(rear drums only) and some of the fords/holdens wih drum rear brakes. There will undoubtedly be others but I can bet my left nut that the spacers are integral tot the hub concerned and not an add on spacer...
I think DOTAR's are pretty self explaining regarding them. A story, my mini had spaced drums as per a cooper S spec to allow the car to have a wider stance(a 1977 mini s had these as standard). Since the spacer was integrated with the drum, it was ok. A point, a certain company who sells mini specialists parts, sell spacers of half and one inch width, which are illegal and have no place on Aussie roads. They will gladly sell you these spacers knowing they are illegal but will not endorse them for figment to their own vehicles. This proves that the mainstream s**t suppliers don't care as they are only interested in a cha ching sound as the next sucker comes through the door. Be very careful with insurance companies as they will flip you on your back as quick as looking at you. Verbal agreements do not stand up I am afraid and you need to have it in writing from the underwriter to make sure you are actually covered. Too late when the wobbly wheel falls off... Hooroo |

OK, here's one.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EXCELLENT-US ... 53ecf19dce It even looks to be the worst possible kind, a spacer only, not even an adapter. |

Yes, as it was in response to this question.
"So to simplify this for me...what car in Australia has hub adaptors standard and part of their manufacturing regime? " Funnily enough, in a short forum search on the Porsche topic, I saw that quite a few people don't like the bolt-on adaptors that most people here prefer to slip-on types. |

The slip "spacers" should be fine as long as the studs are long enough for wheel nut to be fully engaged on the thread. (As in the thread passes all the way through the nut and not stops half way) Like the ones fitted by Porsche. The DANGEROUS ones are the "Adapters" which change the bolt pattern, because you are relying on a thin walled material (Aluminium mostly) to secure the adapter to your hub and then you are bolting you wheel to it. In Grand Ma style driving everyday, or a trailor queen show car, these may not be a problem. Once you start asking it to perform anything more than that is when the brown stuff hits the fan and wheels start falling off.
