Hey guys, so lately I've decided to look into bigger cams for my BF but have no idea what to get.

Before it gets pointed out, I know that bang for buck, cams aren't very effective but that doesn't worry me. The car is basically stock, only performance mods done are removed middle muffler and resonator, reverse mount plenum with larger piping and the classic bent BBM actuator tab.

So, what would you recommend? The car will most likely not get tuned for them immediately and because of this I would get a less aggressive cam if advised.

Do you 100% have to change valve springs or is that just for really aggressive grinds?

I was thinking Atomic stage 2 or 3 and a set of Camtech lockable gears to stop VCT ruining the fun?

All thoughts welcome, cheers!

Am I right to assume you don't have extractors yet then?

I would not reccomend running the cams untuned. Crow Cams infact list all their cams require tuning.

Atomic stg 2-3 are a pretty weak cam. Most people who use Atomic fit the stg4's but if it was my car I would be fitting something that would make. Big enough difference over stock to justify the money spent, so probably something like a stage 3 or 4 Crow Cam.

You may as well do valve springs at the same time to save the hassle doing them later.

Locking the VCT I wouldn't see the point on an Atomic stg2-3. Put the money from them towards getting it tuned sooner.
