Has anyone else been hearing about this? There was talk I overheard today of ford getting serious about the GT & really winding up the motor a bit. Heard all sorts of stories about the in house dyno not keeping up. Also the GS is going to become the base model v8 in the range with a lot of the current GT features.

Heard from someone else that HSV are also developing a new model based on the existing corvette blocks that are in use. Putting out all sorts of crazy figures. Probably a good time if Ford aust. finally got serious about making good sports cars here.

The new 5.8L DOHC is rated at 662Hp at the fly, this is 496 Kw at the flywheel. allow 30% drivetrain loss and that equels 347RwKw. 335 5.0L supercharged does 335 at the tyres. I would have expected more for a 16% increase in displacement.

Mind you though ford dont sell cars on rwkw figures, may only be 16% on paper but watch what it really puts out at the rear wheels.

Well Ford claim 335 at the fly for the 5.0L Supercharged GT Engine and we know that is s**t. more like 335 at the rear.

Interesting. Heard the thing looks like absolute sex as well. I don't mind the current FG range. But if its an improvement, why the hell not

*edit - could be this? {DESCRIPTION}

that's only what it is at them moment before Ford Australia starts to tune it up.

also don't forget that the current 5.0 can only spin to just a tad over 5500-Rpm while the 5.8 can spin to 7500-Rpm.
