It smelt the worst on the right hand side of the engine (passenger side), underneath the manifold up near the fire wall??? Sort of in between the air intake pipe and injectors but down lower is where the smell was coming from??? Hope this helps? I have tried to give accurate information as possible. I did change the relay but still no go??? PLEASE HELP!!! Cheers. Mick. From that description, in that area, there is the starter motor, ignition coil, distributor, oil sensor and main wiring harness which are probably the only things that could give out a burning smell. Seeing as it doesn't turn over now, either the starter motor is dead or the starter motor relay. Didn't you just swap out the starter motor? Also if it cranks but doesn't start after a 5 seconds or so, I'd advise stopping and letting the starter motor cool down, not constantly turning it over till you burn it out.
