au1 is the same as ef, if anything the au2 coil is considered an upgrade for ef and au1.
if anything I would be getting away from the series 1 coil and go for a series 2 one.. the plugs are different but wire colours should be the same... |

generally all 6 cyl starters are interchangeable, but xp? to early ea are a rather large starter, then eb to el are a bit smaller, au seems to be smaller again, the the ba/bf is the smallest of all...
as an eg , you can fit a ba starter to a ea or earlier, but to be honest ive never tried to fit a larger earlier starter into an au... but with au using same engine mounts and manifold types as ef, the eb to ef starter should fit without removing anything from the engine... |
