I've put an AUII 5lt plus electronic auto with full wiring loom to computer, BCM and dash into my good old F100.
All is done and sorted except not yet running.
Will an AUII Fairmont (donor vehicle) run without an airbag module plugged in?
Wiring loom is uncut and went into the truck whole from battery to under bonnet relay box and through the firewall to under dash fusebox then to BCM, dash and computer. all whole.
No Airbag module or ABS connected. will these stop it from running?
Cheers

Hi,

I don't see why there would be a problem. The car doesn't have all the electronic checks like the later ones. You can use a resistor to fool it into thinking you have an airbag. I would try and see if it runs without and only worry about it if it wont start / run properly. I am sure the ABS can also be fooled if you need to.

Yep, it will run fine. I blew an airbag on the track recently in an EF, limped the wreck to the pits, I've also seen an AU with no airbag and it ran fine sans the airbag warning light on the dash. it only produces an error code, it does not inhibit the running of the vehicle.

Thanks guys, I understand the vehicle will run with blown airbag etc but what if the module is not in the vehicle and the plug is open. So far everything else looks fine but there's no communication with the computer.
Turn on the ignition and lights come on but fuel and ignition relays wont switch on.
Even with no airbags in the truck might I need the module plugged in to complete a circuit?

Hi,

If you replace an air-bag with a resistor it will fool the electronics. People have driven home after setting off the airbag, it isn't needed for the car to run. Your problem may be smart-lock or an equivalent anti theft system.
