hey guys, new to the forums was wondering if anyone on here has put in a growler ss induction kit on the n/a xr6 if so how much diffrence does it make.
my car is running a bit sluggish was going to put the new kit on it and punching out the cat make it a hi flow and then getting it tuned just to make sure all the fuel and air flow meters are running at there best if any one has done anything like this to there n/a xr6 cheers. |

I've put a growler kit on my n/a bf, and all I can say is that it sounds better. Didn't really notice any performance gaIn on its own, might have shown on paper though.
Exhaust wise, a set of headers and 2 1/2" catback would be good. Punching out the cat causes turbulence in the system, so a proper hi flow would be a better idea. Also make sure that your fuel filter and spark plugs are alright, if it's acting sluggish they would be the first thing to check. Also check the flux capacitor. Hope that helps |

with the growler did you notice fuel was a lot better,
i have had problems with my coil plugs in the past resaulting in new set of coils and i ended up changing the spark plugs ill check to see if they might be lose running a 2.5' exhaust with a set of extractors, so you dont recommend punching the cat what does it actually cause in the long run? and what is the flux capacitor and where is it located cheers for the feed back helps |

Nah, I didn't notice. If anything it was worse, because I was WOTing it as often as possible to hear the amazing induction noise, haha.
Haven't had a problem with my coils yet, but we've done quite a few sets at work, I'm just waiting for mine to pack up. We have a test unit to load up the coil and test its performance. Punching out the cat will cause turbulence, which will ruin the smooth flow of air that you want through the exhaust system. So it will reduce possible performance. A proper hi flow will have no turbulence and will flow well. And the flux capacitor can be located in a DeLorean, and activates when you hit 88mph. |

mmm may sound stupid but i thought punching the cat out would make it flow a lot quicker,
my plans are to get the growler kit and i was wanting to punch the cat out and then was going to get it tunned to get everything running at its best, will the tunning help once the cat is punched out so that they can make changes to the air flow and fuel? to suit the new mods cheers. |

Punching out the cat is not only less efficient than a hiflow cat, but if a cop pulls you over and catches a wiff of your exhaust, he's gonna slap an epa notice on you. It would be cheaper to do a hiflow in the long run.
I mean don't listen to me, it's not like I've done the same thing and wasted money or anything... If you're going to do a tune to tie it together, why not spend a bit more on the exhaust? Considering a tune will cost you a grand anyway |

i see what your getting at might just have to save some cashola for a hi flow i guess
not to fussed on the tune mates old man reckons $500 but still poor man pays twice thanks for you're advice |
