Hi all this is my first post ever! and I have been reading ford mods topics for years now.

I have recently replaced my head gasket on my Ef falcon and did a head swap for au series 3.

first start it wouldn't run at all but after about 8 tries I finally got it to start.

It sounds really bad like a tractor, backfiring, misfiring and just not running right!

I have read one of the threads on how to change head gasket down to the very bottom detail!

Please help!

Before anything else make sure the leads are on correctly and in the right firing order.
If it is still doing it after confirming this, you may have re-installed the camshaft a few degrees out.

No worries.
I had the same thing happen with a VH Commodore back in the day..
Freaked out thinking I'd screwed it up until I took a step back and looked at what order I'd put the leads on.
