The a u ecu dont seem to like changes to manifold vacuum from mild cams. E series usually learn to adapt to the change and except cams fairly well but au dont. |

I have read that basically any MAP-sensed (Speed Density) engine, like the Falcon six (both E-series and AU), is tuned for a specific airflow profile and volumetric efficiency, and any changes tend to upset the tune. The ECU can self-adjust fueling within a fairly narrow range, and the engine should run acceptably well with mild changes. But the f@rt the engine is from stock, the f@rt the tune is from where it should be for maximum efficiency and performance. Cams especially affect this.
Even a stock engine can benefit from a custom tune, especially if you keep it well-maintained and are prepared to use 95 or 98 octane fuels all the time. A custom tune makes a big difference to a modified engine. You can get a decent "desk-tuned" chip for your specific mods from TI Performance for $190 - best bargain going (http://www.tiperformance.com.au/product ... Programmed). I bought one for my EF, and it's excellent. I have since bought the full-house tuning pack to fine-tune it and optimise it for mods I have done since. It also includes a blank chip I will custom-tune for my AU2.
