EF ford wagon today stalled after starting first go. I reversed out the driveway and it stalled. Tried to start again and only starter motor the engine wouldn't fire. Now the starter motor won't even start. Turn the key and get nothing. I know I didn't burn the starter motor as was only on for a second and no burning smell. What could this be? Starter motor and fuel pump are new. Thanks

When you turn the key do you hear the fuel pump priming and do the warning lights still come on in the dash?
If so, try giving the dash a firm thump on the light grey section just above your left knee while you hold the key in the 'Start' position. If it turns over then, your BEM (Body Electrics Module, controls Smartlock, interior lighting etc) has a dry joint somewhere. It's a fairly common issue with these cars now they are getting older.

Thanks. The lights are all coming up but I am unsure if I can hear the fuel pump not really sure what to listen for (female owner haha). I did try that trick though and still nothing
