On my Cobra I have a warning light which comes on goes off comes on etc etc and have no idea what it is referring to.

I have an AUI XR8 Chaser Cluster and the warning light is on the left side just off centre.

It seems to represent a picture of a small plastic tank with a filler piece at the top right side with an intermittent horizontal line two thirds up - hope that makes sense.

All I think is that it is a low washer fluid warning light. I have'nt got a washer bottle connected (bit pointless in a Cobra). Would the bare wires cause such a light to come on intermittently or is something else.

Thanks guys.

The warning light symbol is positioned between the digital trip read out and the cruise on light.

Also it comes on when the ignition is on (without engine running) then goes off.

Thanks

Not sure about the AU cluster, but could be low coolant light. Has the coolant been filled then bled properly. To do this, just top it up, then run/ drive the car for about 20mins with the heater on full heat and max speed on the fan, should solve the problem if that is the problem

I reckon your right, low washer fluid, i have the same. Coolant level , if Ford uses same symbols, would be a box with a fan inside it.

Bowsaw, I do reckon you're right mate.

The Low water coolant is above the traction control and below the main beam light.

The one I'm on about is on the digital readout at the bottom of the cluster.

Will check out my bare wires and see if they are shorting out.

Hard to know what these things are unless you have a manual.

Trouble is I'd need an XR8 manual for the cluster, a NC one for the engine and forget about one for the jag suspension and brakes.

A hybrid - who would have one!!!! Me

PCC, i know what you mean, my bike is like that, i would have to have 4 manuals, at a minimum, bit of a prick owning hybrid, or in my case , bitzas.

g'day cobber

check the vehicle modifications documents there's pin out's and colour codes for lot's of differnt clusters. even if they havn't got your exact cluster the colours match at least in the same year. good luck i'm converting a nc cluster to go in a 79 f150 now that's entertaining.

Good luck with your cluster conversion......

Have the pins out diagram, but unfortunately they only pick up the gauges, tacho, speedo etc.

The diigital readouts must have their own transmitters so it is difficult to follow whats what.

Once I knew the light came on with the engine off I was a little more comfortable with its importance. Will put a resister on and see if that cures it.

Was up at Bowdens yesterday - what a collection of Fords!!!!!!!!!

From Moffat's Transam Mustang to three original Cobra's and a GT40. Terrific.

If you think its Low Coolant, check your coolant level in the engine bay.

If you thinks its Low Washer Fluid, check Washer levels.

You got to remember I drive a Cobra not a Production Ford.

No worries with the coolant level, with a coolant gauge and coolant temp gauge shouldn't have any problems.

Now fluid washer level is a problem............ I don't have a washer tank - no need when you got no roof!

What I was intrigued about was why should this light only start coming on over a year after I disconnected the washer tank (removed it for show purposes)
