what shims should i use and can anyone help me out on how to do it i read up and have a general idea just if i need special tools (beisde diff spreader i can make one of them)

You'll need a tool to hold the flange still when tightening the pinion nut.
You'll need a dial indicator to read the back lash, and you'll need a ' feel ' for bearing preload on the side bearings as well as the pinion bearings.....and some sort of tell-tale for doing your drive and coast patterns....you know, heel n toe, etc.
It's fairly indepth.
