Hi,
I have an BF Falcon XR8 2005 Auto, hot or cold when I start it the idle shoots up to 1500 rpm. It stays up at 1500 rpm for a good 5 seconds before the idle drops back down to 800 rpm the normal rpm idle. I'm just wondering is it normal for it to idle at 1500 rpm for 5 seconds before the idle drops down & it does this hot of cold it doesn't matter. To me 5 seconds seems like a long time to be idling at high revs, is this normal or not??? The other day the car was idling very rough & the throdle wasn't responding when pushing the throdle after starting the car, we that happened I turned the car off & then back on. Now it just idles high at 1500 rpm for 5 seconds before idle drops down to 800 rpm, is that normal? Any ideas anyone? it would be much appreciated. |

Sounds like your t-body is dying. Does the ETC light come on on the dash? Even momentarily?
Happened to my BA Pursuit but it was rather more dramatic...got stuck at WOT and the pcm dropped cylinders to stop it over revving. Pulled it apart and found stripped gears. |
