I've replaced the coil on my EL from the bottom, though I know the EF has a coil pack I'm fairly sure they're located in almost the same position on the engine? Someone correct me if i'm wrong. It's fairly easy doing it from underneath looking up. Otherwise people have taken out the air box and done it from the top.
Have a look at this: ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/replacing-coil-pack-on-an-ef-t102848.html

I did mine by taking out the air box.. It is a s**t of a spot, you need to be a contortionist to get at the fittings and you'll need patience too.
