I've been given the opportunity to buy a set (front and rear) Koni Red shocks for my SVO for a very good price. $300. Been in a car 6 months, done about 5000kms tops. Is that a good deal, I can't seem to find much info on them.
Should I buy them? Then I was going to get a set of King superlows and throw them in

From a quick ebay search for new ones I have found your going to pay about $600 to $700 new for the set..... So $300 for the let second hands not too bad as long as your sure the sellers not talking s**t and they are in almost as new condition. $250 would be better
I got king low's and monroe gt's all round for my ef for $660 new, the king low's are good but the monroe's are cheap crap ( Monroe's use to be good), so if those shocks are in excellent condition and you can just grab the king springs you would have paid around as much as me but a far better and more reliable set of shock. I dont know if koni reds will be ok for superlows though, might be a good idea to check out the net for that answer or call a suspension place and ask. |

Do it. Also, Koni are mint for low. I have SL/SSL with Koni Reds. It's win.

Definitely worth it.
Even if they are buggered, you can get them rebuilt. I've never priced it but I've heard it's not too costly. Toperformance in Vermont are the Koni guys in Aus. |

cheers for the comments guys. He said if I get him an original set of springs/struts - shocks/springs to replace them with I can have them for $200!
Sounds awesome but i'm being vigilant and asking every question possible

don't worry about it lol. He got all funny when I asked if he had a receipt of when they were fitting.
ALSO, apparently because he was selling them to me cheap I was obliged to help him remove them from his car, and supply standard struts/springs/shocks in return and help him fit those.

friggin hell, did he want a blow job too? Stuff em, they do come around cheap on ebay and keep an eye out on here. My advise though after all is said and done, the idea of the king springs and monroe gt shocks selling on ebay from a reputable suspension place in Melbourne for $660 sounds good.... but stay away from the gt shocks. If your going to do it, do it right and the monroe gt's arent all that good.

Shame about the dweeb selling them. But Koni reds are awesome. Have them on the back of my EF wagon, and they are way better than the KYBs they replaced. Great control, great ride. Got them new for cheap on clearance sale. I'm too cheap to spend $700 on a pair for the front, but I keep an eye out for a deal. Also, they are adjustable - so you can just tighten them up as they wear. And they are rebuildable, so you'd never have to buy another shock.
