as the title suggests, the auto in my "09 XT FG Falcon is slowly coming to the end of its life and I am starting to look into my options. Im looking for some advice on the best path to take, so cheers in advice to anyone that can help me out.
background on the car: "09 XT FG Falcon odo - 144,000km 5spd Auto mods - lowered (springs and shocks), 300C wheels, growler intake Good condition inside and out, small mechanic hiccup but in the middle of fixing it now. The gearbox is inconsistently slipping around 3000rpm, flaring on up changes and rough 'clunking' down changes. Ford suggests that it is due to the main valve body. The options (if I have left something out, let me know): - sell it and move onto something else - Just keeping driving it, maintaining it best I can - repair the existing box estimated repair $1500-2000 by M1 Automatics - replace with another 5spd auto estimated cost $2000-2500 (no labour) - upgrade to a ZF 6spd auto estimated cost $3000-3500 (no labour) - manual conversion I don't really want to do a manual conversion, so I haven't even looked into the price of doing one. Just as an added note, if I do end going ahead with a repair/replacement... I would like to do the best possible thing I could afford to do, I don't just want to do a patch job. In the future this car could POSSIBLY become a turbo conversion project, so something that is strong/reliable is preferred... IF I can afford to do that now, it will safe me heart ache in the future. cheers again...

I would take the option of getting the existing box repaired. Then you know its like new again.
Sounds like it died a bit early though

Dont know how long it will last behind a turbo in the future if its shagged behind an NA now.

may have found another option if all goes well over the next week or two, might pick myself up EVERYTHING I need to do a gearbox and turbo conversion in one hit... just have to see how it pans out.
