Anyone know where I can find what wires need resistors on them for when tricking an auto ECU to run a manual gearbox on an EF?
I have a guide by Voxace, but the wires colours are wrong, and since the guide doesn't say what each wire is for I'm having difficulty identifying the correct wires.

EDIT: Just been looking at the genuine FOrd repair manual for EF/L and it would seem that the wiring loom I have here is not from either. It's probably one that was from the old 3 speed automatic transmission and so it is EA or EB wiring colours.

Anyone able to confirm that it should be a 1.2K resistor between the two wires for the temp sensor and a 6.8K resistor for the two wires for the gear select?

Just incase anyone was interested, on the auto loom I have here, the blue wires are for the Temp Sensor (Blue-Orange and Blue-Yellow) and the purple/violet wires for the Gear Select (Purple and Purple-White).

im not sure on the ef wire colours of pin numbers as all the ones ive done were ea-ed..

but yes the 1.2k resistor is right for the trans temp..
and it should be 7k resistor for the gear position but the 6.8k is more common and will do the job fine..

the resistor trick will work. but the j3 has ability to turn the ecu to manual properly.

So j3 is going to be worth while as plans for future mods as well

My loom still has both working. J3 manual, resistor trick (1.2 and 6.8) AND now has genuine manual ECU too. I am fairly sure the car has long ago forgotten it was auto.
Actually, the loom still has the wires hanging out the side from the home made shift kit as well. Really should put some insulation tape around those sometime.
