Changing the heads over on my ef xr8 and can't get to the bolt half covered by the powere steering pump pulley.
Is there some trick to taking the pulley off to access the bolt?

Open ended spanner and a quarter turn at a time.
C*** of a setup.

The gear puller just keeps on slipping off the crappy recess when doing that

You don't take the pulley off.
If you do you will most likely f**k the pulley. You have to get in behind the pulley to undo the bolt little by little.

Well I tried the top one and the head decided to not want to play the game and destroy itself.
Ahh what to do now. Might drill the pulley to put a socket through the whole

Get the P/S Pulley remover - not terribly expensive, locks over the pulley, and allows you to wind it off without damage. Then remove p/S pump easily.
Reinstall is a high tension bolt up the p/s pump centre with 2 nuts (one often doesnt cut it), a pile of greased washers as a bearing, and just tighten it up to pull it on. The thread "might" be 3/8-16 Nigel |
