g'day cobbers

just after some thoughts on retarding timing (just at startup) on an old windsor. the dizzy is curved for gas which means alot of initial timing plus advance comes in earlier. this is putting way to much stress on the starter. so far i've killed 2.

was thinking one of those nitrous retardin boxes it it could be hooked up to work when the starter was turning. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

yeah I had a staba in the ecu and fule system forum but it doesn't have an ecu and It didn't get much feedback. figured there are more oldschool people hangin out in this neck of the woods. plus I was fairly aggitated when I wrote the old post and on reading it back it was a touch incohearent.

I have only used the old style clapper starter and next payday will be dropping a gear reduction unit in there. however I figure if I can reduce the stress on the new starter it'll live a much longer life as well as the battery.

mmm

umm what about a recurve of the dizzy to give low advance at real low rpm ie below idle speed and then at idle speed the advance kicks in??

but then again i am not sure the engine will fire on lpg with such a low advance...

have u thought about uprading the ignition system?? i be 9mm leads and a bigger coil with a twin point dizzy? or even converting to electronic ignition
