Had the same problem in my EL it resulted in ignition the dizzy or coilpack one of which is used in the EL variant f**k up..... Im most certain that it is ignition fault from what you described!
Apart you wouldn't have the exact problem as me, as the e-series range used the convential coil pack (or was it dizzy... :?: ) and then changed to dizzy in the el which didn't work to well, it was then later changed back in the au!

Check the water levels of your battery too, not uncommon for a good battery to have no water making it die .. fill it up and sometimes there fine

But as said, sometimes they just die!

Agreed, the die sometimes. It appears my car is on its third battery of it's mystical journey through life (after the stinge before I owned it only put a 380CCA in there  ).

Keep an eye on the levels, unfortunately if these drop too low then battery will "never be the same again" as usually irreversible damage to plates...

Get a good 520CCA and dont leave it sitting around draining power for hours on end without running motor.
