Hey having major problems trying to fit new brake pads!
Have taken the whole thing off as could not fit them while still attached but still having major problems getting them to fit in any advice?? |

Assume that you are fitting pads to the EL.
You have to remove the Caliper to fit the pads. Once you have the caliper off you remove the old pad and then you need to press the piston back into the caliper. I use a sliding C clamp to do this, fit the old pad and wind slowly till the piston is all the way home. Then fit the new pad and refit the caliper. |

+1 C-clamp to push piston back in.
Word of warning (from bad experience): If brake master cylinder reservoir is more than half full of brake fluid, reduce the level (with a small scoop or similar) before pressing the piston back in. Otherwise, the brake fluid will overflow from the master cylinder, making a mess of your engine bay. And brake fluid is a superb paint stripper, so if you get it on paint, you need to rinse off will lots of water (no pressure, use a bucket or watering can), and do not try to wipe off with a cloth, or you could take the paint with it if it has been there long enough to soften the paint.
