Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows of a place which does airbag suspension for a ford EL fairmont ghia? I have had some mixed reviews about airbag suspension and been told it makes your car handle like a boat. I have never been in a car with airbag suspension so would love to get some feedback. Main reason I want it for is so I can adjust my ride height so when my dad or misses drive the car they dont leave my body kit behind as its fitted with a genuine tickford kit. Now I could always jack the car up as is however then its terrible to look at Cheers in advance |

I know next to nothing about these kits... Other than it will cost many thousands to engineer the kit for legal use, if at all possible...
The kit I saw installed on a merc was set so it were fully adjustable with the handbrake on and when you drove off it reverted to a "std" ride height... This way a wheel alignment could be done... That installation was done by a "professional" whether or not it full rules and regulations and was engineered or not I don't know... If you had two heights set you couldn't only ever wheel align it to one of those heights and it would scrub tires out due to incorrect camber and toe at the other setting... There was one guy on here ages ago that had a bagged ef and as a matter is user name may have been bagged ef... search the list of users for something of that variety and once you know exactly what his user name was then you can find his build thread... It was a white EF with a BA grafted front bumper... Was also boosted too... his user may have been boosted ef... something like that anyway... Cheers, Tim

Thanks for the response mate. I know air ride in melbourne use to do kits for the commodores which were fully road legal and you could have them engineered so I am certain there should be something out there for the fords also.
Just trying to find someone who does a complete kit rather than finding little bits and pieces. Cheers |

No one offers kits to suit E-Series.
not enough interest. however if you're serious enough, they'll make it work. Mines airbagged, but it wasnt done by a workshop. A kit to suit an E-Series is more complicated due to space issues.

I dont know much about this stuff. Would you mind listing the parts required? And if possible where you got them from, who installed it for you?
Is yours legal? How does it handle? Cheers |

Cheers Mines a cheaper setup, no ride control, just manually controlled. which means no, its not legal. handles average, but its not a race car, better gear could improve handling. I installed it, but got the parts 2nd hand. prices i've seen in the past from people who had it done at workshops, are basically somewhere around $3k for just the rear. pretty sure that was legal. $6k+ for front/rear if you can find someone willing to tackle it. AU is slightly easier then E-Series. BA is even easier again

we read pedders the first time man... We ignored it for a reason...
pedders don't advertise any airbags... they don't even have load share airbags listed on their website... there is no direct full airbag suspension system for E series vehicles... This includes pedders... Cheers, Tim
